Hello there! Time for a new Obsessions post! It's been a little while since my last one, but I guess lately my obsessions have been a bit more slow burning.

Lizzo

The new Lizzo album, Cuz I Love You just dropped and I love it! I'd had the album on pre-order for a while, and had been listening to the three available tracks on repeat (Cuz I Love You, Juice, and Tempo featuring MISSY FREAKING ELLIOT) and was so excited when the full album was finally released. It's so awesome! Soulful, fun, inspiring, positive and just damn catchy. Lizzo is totally bad ass, has an amazing voice, and is just gorgeous. I love her!

Cheds

Cheds

I bloody love Cheds. They're my first choice for snacking and I could smash a whole packet, easily. (Although usually I exercise the tiniest amount of restraint and eat a packet over two to three days, hah). If you don't know what they are, they're cracker biscuits baked with cheddar and topped with Pecorino cheese. So crunchy and delicious! At the end of March I was unwell with a virus/flu thingo and the only things I could stomach for two days were dry toast and Cheds.

Grace and Frankie

Grace and Frankie had been on my list for ages, and recently I bit the bullet and started watching it on Netflix. I knew I'd love it! I guess I'm just into sassy hilarious women! The show is really funny, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin are total legends (I still need to watch 9 to 5), and the storylines are poignant. I thought the last scene in the season 2 finale was just awesome. I've only seen up to season 2 so no spoilers please! Lily and Jane are both executive producers - I love that they're are creating their own opportunities in an industry that's not very welcoming to older talent. Definitely worth watching!

Great British Bake Off

I've been interested for some time in the people and things involved in the GBBO franchise, like Mary Berry and the spin-off Bake Off: The Professionals, and I'm always happy to watch the repeats of past seasons when they happen to appear on Foxtel, but this year's ninth season was the first time I actually watched a season from start to finish. (It aired on Australian Foxtel earlier this year, although it was on TV in the UK last year). I've always enjoyed the baking aspect, but I was surprised by how compulsive the season arc was. I totally got swept up into the drama and actually cried at the final when my favourite won! Now I'm following all my fave season nine contestants on Insta, happy for them living their best lives!

Malaysian Food

Not sure if this really counts as a "current" obsession - I mean, I am Malaysian and I will always be Malaysian, and I will always love Malaysian food - but lately my obsession with our food has definitely kicked up a notch. We just got back from a fabulous two-week holiday in Malaysia, where we ate SO MUCH. It was the best! We did one night in Kuala Lumpur, five in Penang, and five in Ipoh. We researched a huge list of places to eat and basically smashed through it - kaya toast, curry mee, assam laksa, nasi kandar, wat tan hor, satay, Ipoh chicken and prawn soup and more!

This was actually our second trip to Malaysia within a ten month period. I guess we could have picked somewhere new for the most recent holiday, but we were just super keen to go back. (And no, I haven't even blogged the July 2018 trip yet - whoops! I am going to start on those soon!) You might have also noticed I've also been doing a bit more Malaysian cooking recently - loh bak, sago pudding gula melaka and so on. Sedap!
